Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao keeps WBO welterweight crown against American Shane Mosley, during 12 round WBO title bout last Saturday at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Pacman used his speed and power to send Mosley on the canvas on the 3rd round, that make the American just goes circles through their remaining bout. Although at 10th round the American send Pacquiao to the canvas but not through his punching prowess, but by pushing the Pacman.

Manny Pacquiao wins via unanimous decision against Shane Mosley. The judges scored the bout 119-108, 120-108 and 120-107, all in favor of the Filipino fighter.

After his training at the Wild Card Gym, the Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao, along with his supporters in a convoy of six vehicles, proceeded to the show of Jimmy Kimmel.

"I'm ready (to fight) right now," Pacquiao answered when Jimmy Kimmel, the American talk-show host asked him about his preparations on May 7 upcoming fight. Pacquiao will fight to defend his WBO Welterweight crown against the American-African Shane Mosley.

But he backed a bit, when the host asked him if he will knock out Mosley. He said he only wants to give boxing fans "a good fight".

During the packed show last Thursday, Pacman did not sing to his fans but cuts from his debut CD single/DVD in the United States were played, including his version of “Sometimes When We Touch,” the 1977 smash hit of Canadian Dan Hill. The CD was done in collaboration with Hill and the song’s original producers.

At the same time, Pacquiao also managed to make a pitch for his own line of perfume, the MP scent.

This is Pacman's fourth appearance on the said show. The first one was in November 2009 before his fight against Miguel Cotto, and also the time where Pacquiao sang John Lennon's "Imagine".

Margarito Cleared to Fight Pacquiao in Texas

It's final, the much anticipated junior middle weight title fight between the Filipino boxing superstar Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao and the former welterweight champion from Mexico, Antonio 'Tony' Margarito will be held November 13 at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.

Antonio Margarito got the go signal to return to the boxing arena after he got cleared by the Texas Department of Lisensing and Regulation. As you remember, California Athletic State Commission revoked Margarito's license, along with his trainer Javier Capetillo, after the Commission found evidence that an embedded plastic like substance wraps on Margarito's hands prior to his fight against Shane Mosley last January 2009.

"After a thorough review of his application, it was determined Mr. Margarito met the requirements of the Texas Combative Sports Acts and Rules, " Executive Director William Kuntz said in a statement posted on the department's website.

I hope this November 15 fight will materialized, unlike the much awaited fight of the year that didn't push through between the two top boxers of the world, Pacman and Money.

The boxing match between Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao and Antonio 'Tony' Margarito is fight for the vacant super welterweight championship. However, the venue of the said fight is still uncertain, because they are still waiting for Margarito's license.

If you're still remember, Margarito was suspended for a year by the California State Athletic Commission, because of what happened last January 2009 between his fight with Mosley. He was caught red-handed with a hardened substance in his knuckle pad during their fight. Mosley knocked him out in the 9th round of their match.

Pacquiao Stops Cotto to Win the WBO Welterweight Title

LAS VEGAS - Filipino icon Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao stopped his opponent, Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto during their match dubbed as ‘Firepower’ to capture the WBO Welterweight title.

Pacman‘s speed and power were way too much for Miguel Cotto, who knocked down twice during 3rd and 4th round before finally stopping him at 55 seconds of the 12th round.

“I didn’t know where the punches were coming from,” Cotto said. “And I didn’t protect myself from his punches.”

He was so dominant in the later rounds that Cotto was fighting backward most of the way, simply trying to survive. Pacquiao was credited with landing almost twice as many punches, Pacquiao 336 while Cotto 172.

Pacquiao is the only boxer who had 7 titles of different divisions under his belt and voted as No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world by Ring Magazine.

HOLLYWOOD: The sparmates of the Filipino icon, Manny Pacquiao, give him a solid edge over Cotto.

The California-based Mexican, Urbano Antillon, the currently no. 1-ranked lightweight contender of the WBC who had a record of 26 wins, 1 loss and 19 knockouts had all praised on the Filipino icon, Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao.

Antillon, one of the Pacquiao' sparring partner said that "Manny is one of the hardest workers in the sport". He also added that after months of trading leather with Pacquiao, he expects the rapid-punching, hard-hitting southpaw to dominate the match against Cotto using his vaunted speed.

Although he did not make any predictions about the coming match, Antillon said he feels that Cotto is in for a tough night against Pacquiao.

LOS ANGELES: Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has predicted a knockout by the Filipino southpaw when he challenges Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto for the WBO welterweight title on 14 November 2009 in Nevada, Las Vegas.

Roach has initially forecast the November 14 bout in Last Vegas would go the full distance but he has since changed his tune because of his fighter's impressive work in training camp.

MANILA – Canadian adviser Mike Koncz has joined American trainer Freddie Roach and conditioning coach Alex Ariza in declaring that Manny Pacquiao will certainly knockout WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto in the “Firepower” bout on November 14 in Las Vegas.

Koncz, however, thinks the KO will not come soon in the fight, contrary to what Roach has predicted.

“I believe it will happen but I don’t believe it will happen as quickly as in the [Ricky] Hatton fight,” Koncz told abs-cbnNEWS.com last week.

Pacquiao became the IBO/Ring Magazine light welterweight champion in May after stunning Britain’s Hatton with a 2nd round KO in the “Battle of the East and West.”

Roach told PhilBoxing.com that Pacquiao would KO Cotto in Round 1 if the Puerto Rican “doesn’t run.” Ariza, meantime, said the Filipino boxing superstar can KO Cotto “if he lands a shot” because of the immense power of Pacquiao’s punch.

“You know Cotto's a fighter in his prime. He's one of the best body punchers in the business, very strong,” Koncz said of the WBO welterweight champ.

“Certainly I believe Manny will prevail in the fight because his foot speed and his hand speed are just gonna be too much for Cotto,” he continued.

“But the knockout, I think so but I don’t think so [it will happen] until the later rounds.”

Pacquiao went to the United States Saturday night to wrap up his training there. Koncz said the pound-for-pound king will train in Los Angeles, California for two weeks.

Team Pacquiao will proceed to Las Vegas, Nevada on the Sunday before the fight to continue training.

A “very hectic schedule” awaits Pacquiao in Las Vegas, Koncz noted, as he is set to fulfill “contractual obligations” such as promoting the bout.

Roach: Pacman Will Expose Cotto

Filipino icon Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao's famed trainer, Freddie Roach believes that Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto will be exposed when he tangles with the pound-for-pound king, Pacquiao in Las Vegas this coming 14 of November.

"I'm expecting Cotto to be his best," said Roach, who revealed that Manny Pacquiao will only train three weeks in the US and will have to spend five weeks somewhere else.

Roach also added that Pacquiao is at the top of his game right now. He also expect Cotto to be more resilient than De la Hoya and Hatton, so it well gonna be a better fight than those two guys did. The biggest thing about Cotto is that he's a strong guy, but Manny's not going to stand in front of him and trade.

Meanwhile, Cotto has warned Manny Pacman Pacquiao to be prepare for the worst when they meet this coming November. "Against me the story will be different. It well be a war," he added.

Miguel Cotto is trained under Joe Santiago, his chief trainer and South African Phil Landman, as his conditioning coach. He is now in his fourth week training in his home country, Puerto Rico.

Las Vegas: The big fight between the two warriors, Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao vs Miguel 'Junito' Cotto will set on 14 November 2009 (HBO PPV) at MGM Grand, Nevada, Las Vegas.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reached an agreement with both camps.

"It's done, " Arum said. "While I was away I reached a verbal agreement with each side. Pacquiao committed to the fight this weekend and Cotto the week before while I was in Israel. I was on the phone all the time to get this done."

Pacquiao, (140 pounds) and Cotto (147 pounds), agreed to meet at 145 pound maximum weight.

Freddie Roach, the Trainer of Year awardee and the coach of the world's #1 pound-for-pound boxer, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, has fired his assistant trainer Michael Moorer.

The primary reason was there's personality conflict between Moorer and Manny Pacquiao, and he (Moorer) and Amir Khan, according of 8CN.

Freddie went on to say,

Amir Kahn approached me and said; Freddie I want you to be my trainer, not Michael Moorer

quoted by Brad Cooney of 8CountNews.com. Also according to Roach, Pacquiao's sentiments are the same concerning Moorer.

Roach ask Moorer to leave his position at the gym due to a conflict of personalities that had been creating issues amongst the Wild Card stable.

Freddie Roach also wants to clear that there were no hard feelings between them when he fired Moorer from his Wild Card Gym, instead give him thanks for his contribution and involvement on the said gym.

Michael Moorer is a former world heavyweight champion with a record of 52 wins, 40 knockouts, 4 losses and 1 draw. He had WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles under his belt prior to his retirement as a professional boxer.

Ricky Hatton has issued a damning assessment of pound-for-pound number one Manny Pacquaio ahead of their light-welterweight super-fight in Las Vegas on 2 May.

Hatton insists his respect for the Filipino battler ends outside the ropes and believes Pacquaio's one-dimensional style will help him wrest the sport's ultimate title in style.

Hatton said: 'Manny fights the same way all the time. He's effective at what he does but he's not a versatile fighter.

'He's never met a man as fiery, ferocious or rough as me - and certainly not as big and strong.

'I don't think Manny is the most elusive. He comes very square-on and he's there to be hit.

'And if he gets hit he's going to get hit by the biggest man he's ever faced. It will be a very explosive fight.'

Hatton went on to pour scorn on suggestions Pacquiao's inside-the-distance win over Oscar De La Hoya in his debut at 147lbs last year proved the former flyweight was capable of holding his own.

Risking a ticking-off from his promoter, the now-retired De La Hoya, Hatton said: 'I don't think Manny has fought at this weight before. With respect to Oscar, he was fighting a punching bag that night.'

Hatton is putting the finishing touches to his first full camp under new trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr, who joined up at short notice to mastermind Hatton's superb win over Paulie Malignaggi.

And he maintains he has been turned into a much better fighter than the one who was hammered to defeat by Mayweather's son in December 2007 - even going as far as claiming his solitary loss changed him for the better.

Hatton added: 'I think the Mayweather fight really changed my career. I had too many fights where there was no real thought in the way I was fighting and that culminated in my defeat to Floyd.

'I said to myself, "come on Ricky, you've always had the ability, you just aren't using it any more".

'That's why I went to work with Floyd. And I think you've already seen the difference.'

MANILA, Philippines—Manny Pacquiao, as always, refuses to be drawn into a war of words with Ricky Hatton.

The Filipino ring superstar would rather let his fighting do the talking when he faces Hatton for the British icon’s IBO light welterweight title on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Let’s just see what happens in the ring,” said Pacquiao, when asked by Filipino sportswriters for comment on Hatton’s boast on Thursday in Manchester, England, that he’s unbeatable at 140 lb.

“He can say what he wants, I’ll just give it my best,” said the Filipino, who is coming off an eight-round demolition of Oscar De La Hoya.

Admitting that Hatton will be a tougher foe, Pacquiao bared Friday night that he’ll be leaving on Feb. 24 for the United States to begin training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.

Pacquiao added he’ll attend the christening of his daughter, Queen Elizabeth, on Feb. 22 in Gen. Santos City before beginning his preparations for the megabuck bout that will include a promotional tour of key cities in Britain and the United States.

Hatton, whose only loss was dealt by Floyd Mayweather Jr. at 147 lb in May, 2007, intends to begin training two weeks earlier after taking his family to a Caribbean cruise.

According to Hatton, he won’t let his countrymen down a second time by beating Pacquiao and claiming the Filipino’s world’s best pound-for-pound fighter label.

The award was given by FASGI or Filipino American Service Group Inc., a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. Pacquiao failed to attend the awarding ceremony due to intense training in preparation for his upcoming fight with Manchester's boxing pride Ricky Hatton.

According to Asianjournal.com, other awardees for the 2nd Annual FASGI Fundraising Gala are Greg Macabenta (Community Service Leader of the Year Award); Jess Espanola (American Dream Award); Seafood City (Entrepreneur of the Year Award); Honorable Xavier Becerra (Leader of the Year Award) and Honorable Quentin L. Kopp from California High Speed Rail Authority (Corporate Visionary Leader of the Year Award).

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao is set to do a Ceremonial First Pitch at AT&T Park on April 21, 2009. LOS ANGELES — Ricky Hatton thinks Manny Pacquiao’s demolition of Oscar De La Hoya in December was a fluke. And Hatton is counting on beating the Filipino star on May 2 in Las Vegas.

“Any win against Oscar is a magnificent one. Is that the Oscar De La Hoya we have come to love? I don’t think so,” Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) said. “And only Oscar can say what happened on the scales. He looked a shell of the Oscar we know. I don’t think it was hard to beat Oscar that night.”

Pacquiao (48-3-2) and Hatton were at a red-carpet event at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood to promote the junior welterweight title fight for the first and only time in the United States.

Pacquiao wants the International Boxing Organization title, which belongs to Hatton. But the Briton thinks he will have a leg up against one of the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighters.

“If you could see how fast I’m performing, there’s not that big a gap there,” said Hatton. “Ultimately, I think size will play a big factor. He has dangers in other areas, like his speed and footwork but I’m boxing a lot cuter than I was a few years ago.”
Pacquiao is known for his speed. But he could be fighting his biggest opponent in Hatton. Pacquiao was fighting in the super featherweight division last March. He moved up to welterweight to fight De La Hoya, who lost weight for the matchup.

De La Hoya didn’t come out of his corner after the eighth round. Hatton suggested that De La Hoya tried to make weight too early.

“That’s what people believe,” Pacquiao said. “Maybe they were rooting for Oscar and maybe they were fans of Oscar. It’s hard to make reasons or alibis after the fight. It’s not good.”

Pacquiao told reporters he weighs 148 pounds (67 kilograms). He trains with Freddie Roach in Hollywood and said camp was going well.

Hatton, who is training in Las Vegas, said he was feeling good at 150 (68 kg).

“It’s a fight I massively believe I can win. A boxer can’t get any higher if he’s the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, so I need to just go about my business more so than ever.”

Hatton added: “I respect Manny for his skills and all his power but I think he should be a bit more worried about my power.”

Asked if he viewed Pacquiao as something of a lightweight when it came to power, Hatton said he did not want to say too much in case it came back to bite him.

“But above all, I think it’s going to be a fantastic fight,” Hatton said. “And there’s no doubt (what) my own tactics (will be). It’ll be foot forward from the first bell.”

Pacquiao also said he had great respect for Hatton.

“He’s a strong fighter, a good fighter and he’s quick,” the 30-year-old added after the duo had been introduced to their fans.

“For me, this is not a regular fight. I consider this fight to be the toughest of my boxing career. After all he is undefeated at 140 pounds.”

While Pacquiao was reluctant to predict the outcome of the May 2 clash dubbed “The Battle of East and West,” his multi-awarded trainer Freddie Roach was far from reticent.

“I think it’s going to be the best three rounds you’ve ever seen,” Roach told Reuters. “It’s going to be short and sweet.” Inquirer.net
